Love trumps hate〜Women march on Tokyo

 

  Donald Trump has repeatedly made misogynist statements since the election campaign. As women march on Washington on Jan. 21, their counterparts also staged the women’s march on Tokyo on Jan. 20, where about 600 people, majority American, raised their voice. Many men and those with children also participated.

 One woman who came with her daughter said, “I came because I worry about my daughter’s future. We should not just fear Trump: We need to raise our voice.”

 Another woman was raising a sign, “Love Not Hate Make America Great.” (see photo) A series of this march was jointly held by the Democrats Japan Branch, and for that there were many signs expressing support for Obama. Though it was such a cold day, people walked through Tokyo for an hour, while chanting slogans in English. (By MIYUKI Emi)

「ヘイトではなく愛がアメリカを偉大にする」～東京でウ ィメンズ・マーチ

トランプ氏は、選挙期間中から女性蔑視の発言を繰 り返してきた。そんなトランプ氏に対して1月21日、ワシントンで は女性の権利を訴える大規模デモ行進「ウィメンズ・マーチ・オ ン・ワシントン」が開催されるが、東京でも20日、日比谷公園か ら「ウィメンズ・マーチ」が行われた。約600人が集まったが、 ほとんどがアメリカ人。女性が多いが男性の参加者も多い。とく に子ども連れの参加者が目立った。娘と一緒の女性は 「娘の将来が心配でデモにきた。トランプを恐れるだけではだめ で、声を上げることが大切だと思う」と語っていた。また「Love Not Hate Make America Great」（ヘイトではなく愛がアメ リカを偉大にする）のプラカード（写真）を掲げる女性もいた。 こ のデモ はアメリカ民主党日本支部が共催していて、オバマ元大統領を支持 するプラカードが目についた。寒い日だったが、防寒具に身を包ん で約1時間をパレード。英語のコールが都心に響きわたった。（取 材＝見雪恵美）
